The Kremlin is to the right, with the squat shape of Lenin's tomb in front of the wall, and in the back left is St Basil's Cathedral. Red also means beautiful in Russian.

St Basil's Cathedral

A few of the domes of St Basil's, 1552. It was commissioned by Ivan the Terrible in memory of his victories over the Mongol-Tartars. The statues are of a mayor and prince who drove out occupying Poles from the city in the 1600's.

The museum in the Kremlin contains, among other things, some royal regalia. The crown in the foreground is one of the earliest Tsar's crowns. Later they became a bit more European in style.

This suit of mail belonged to Boris Gudonov, son-in-law of Ivan the Terrible and Tsar 1598-1605. Each link has been flattened and a prayer inscribed on it.
